    Southern Jaguars History

    The Southern Jaguars, representing Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, have a rich history that dates back to 1880. The university's athletic program began to take shape in the early 20th century, with the establishment of various sports teams. The Jaguars are particularly well-known for their football program, which was established in 1930. They have enjoyed considerable success in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), winning numerous conference championships and producing several NFL players, including the likes of Hall of Famer Aeneas Williams. In addition to football, the Southern Jaguars have competitive teams in basketball, baseball, track and field, and more.
