The South Florida Bulls football program began in 1997 as a part of the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, Florida. The team started as a member of NCAA Division I-AA and quickly moved up to Division I-A (now known as FBS) in 2001. In their early years, the Bulls experienced rapid success, which culminated in a remarkable 2007 season where they reached as high as No. 2 in the national rankings.
