    Quicksand History

Quicksand is a post-hardcore band that emerged from New York City in the early 1990s, contributing significantly to the evolution of the genre. Formed in 1990 by singer Walter Schreifels, who was previously a member of the influential band Gorilla Biscuits, Quicksand quickly gained a reputation for their distinctive sound that blended heavy riffs with melodic elements. Their debut album, 'Slip,' released in 1993, was critically acclaimed and established the band as a prominent force in the underground music scene. The band's music drew from a variety of influences, including punk, metal, and alternative rock, which resonated with fans and helped shape the sound of the 90s alternative music movement. The band's lineup stabilized with Schreifels, guitarist Tom Capone, bassist Sergio Vega, and drummer Alan Cage, leading to the release of their sophomore album, 'Manic Compression,' in 1995. This album further solidified their status, featuring powerful tracks that showcased their technical prowess and emotional depth. After a brief hiatus in the late 1990s, Quicksand reunited in 2012, much to the delight of their loyal fanbase, and began touring again, which reignited interest in their music and legacy. Their live performances are characterized by intense energy and an immersive experience, often leaving audiences captivated by the band's dynamic stage presence and the intricate interplay between the band members.
