    Dead & Company History

Dead & Company is a rock band formed in 2015, consisting of former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann, along with John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, and Jeff Chimenti. The band emerged as a tribute to the iconic Grateful Dead, which was formed in 1965 and became known for its unique blend of rock, folk, and jazz improvisation. The Grateful Dead was famous for their live performances, which featured long jams and an ever-evolving setlist, creating a cult following known as 'Deadheads.' After the Grateful Dead disbanded in 1995 following the death of frontman Jerry Garcia, various offshoots and side projects emerged over the years. However, it wasn't until Dead & Company formed that fans experienced a continuation of the classic Grateful Dead sound. The band's debut tour in 2015 was met with enthusiasm, as they played a mix of beloved Grateful Dead songs and showcased Mayer's impressive guitar work, breathing new life into the timeless music. The ensemble has since gained a reputation for delivering electrifying live shows that resonate with both old fans and newcomers alike. Their performances are characterized by a communal atmosphere, where the spontaneity of each set creates a unique experience for attendees. Over the years, Dead & Company has released several live recordings, further solidifying their place in the legacy of the Grateful Dead's live performance culture.
